Curiosity, Energy and Inspiration at CHARM!

Feb 20, 2026

Johannes Josefsson and Markus Jarvid at Charm 2026.

Once again, Nexans took part in the CHARM student fair at Chalmers. Two days filled with energy, curiosity, and engaging conversations.

Student interest was high — both in Nexans as a company and in the overall industry. During the first day of the fair, we presented Nexans’ global operations within electrification and sustainable cable solutions, our ongoing projects, and the career opportunities available with us.

It was particularly inspiring to meet students from many different educational backgrounds who are passionate about technology, innovation, and the green transition. Many took the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions about everything from trainee programs and thesis projects to what it’s like to work in international teams.

- We made several valuable connections and gained new perspectives and ideas from the engineers of the future, says Peter Kebke, responsible for Industrial Projects at Nexans Sweden.

The Nexans Group aims to contribute to sustainable electrification now and in the future — Electrify the Future — and we have committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), scope 1–3.

We are currently undergoing a major transformation, and our production is being digitalized within the framework of Industry 4.0 — an exciting and demanding journey for a traditional sector like the cable industry.

One of the students we met at CHARM was Emilia Gustafsson Chuah, currently in the second year of the engineering mathematics program. Emilia’s future plans were not yet fully defined.

“ I imagine myself having a job within data analysis or software, but I’m open to many possibilities. I haven’t come far enough in my studies yet to know for sure. ”

Emilia has always been interested in mathematics, inspired partly by a parent who is an engineer.
- I’m good at math and find it quite fun — especially problem‑solving. When I was younger, I loved codes and puzzles, Emilia explains.

For a future employer, intellectual stimulation is important — but so is a social environment.
- Yes, I prefer not to work too much on my own, she says.

At Nexans, there are great opportunities for development, and 80 percent of our open positions are filled internally. For the right person — someone who enjoys both the local and the global — there is plenty of room to grow and learn new things.

- I hadn’t really thought about how much mathematics goes into cable development. You learn something new every day, Emilia says.
