Nexans invests in Sweden to strengthen delivery capability across the Nordics

Apr 16, 2026

Martin Nilsson

Nexans is investing in an expansion of its operations in Sweden with a new facility for mixing halogen-free materials. The initiative, which will be carried out during 2026–2027, strengthens our production capacity and helps reduce the risk of disruptions to deliveries to customers across the Nordics.

The investment is part of our Nordic ambition that 95 percent of what we sell in the Nordics should also be produced in the Nordics. The new facility will therefore be an important part of securing material supply—both for our own production and for other Nexans units in the region.

An investment in Sweden—benefiting customers across the Nordics

The new facility will cover approximately 1,200 square meters and will be equipped with modern technology for resource-efficient production. Production areas, silos, and functions linked to our materials laboratory will be integrated here.

For our customers in the Nordics, the investment means:

  • Stronger control over materials and their properties
  • Expanded opportunities to further develop products
  • Sustained, quality-assured production over time
  • Reduced risk of delivery disruptions through increased local production

Construction is planned to start in spring 2026, and the facility is expected to be completed in 2027.

Technology tailored to our needs

As part of the initiative, we are investing in a new mixer (kneader), selected to meet our requirements for operational reliability, ease of use, and long-term performance.

We have chosen a solution tailored to our needs that gives us the right conditions for efficient production over time, says Project Manager Martin Nilsson.

The investment gives us better control of the process and strong conditions to maintain high quality, while increasing capacity and the opportunity to further develop our materials.

Shorter value chains—increased control and development capability

By strengthening production in Sweden, we improve control across the entire Nordic value chain. This reduces dependencies, increases flexibility, and makes us better equipped to meet variations in demand.

More local and integrated production also creates opportunities to reduce the impact of transportation, strengthen competence within the organization, and use materials more resource-efficiently over time.

“ This investment strengthens our position in the Nordics and our ability to deliver to our customers with the right quality and precision. At the same time, we are developing our production, improving the work environment, and strengthening our competence and ways of working to meet future requirements. ”
