Reducing our impact on the environment

In parallel with the development of products, we also work to develop solutions that further help our customers to use our products in a more sustainable way.

 

• Lifemark - content declaration embossed on the cable
  As the world's first cable manufacturer, Nexans has introduced the Lifemark recycling label on its cables. It's a world-unique labeling method that describes the substances included in the cable. The content declaration is embossed on the outside of the cable, the sheath, and can be read by the person handling the cable. This marking makes it much easier when sorting the cable when it is time for recycling. 
  The method has been used in Grimsås for more than 20 years. We are now happy to see that more actors are following suit and emboss their cables.
  
   
• EcoCalculator - for optimal cable selection
  This tool helps installers, consultants and end customers to choose the best cable solution to reduce energy losses and thus CO2 emissions. Up to 90% of an electricity cable's environmental impact occurs in the use phase. Therefor it is a very good idea to try to prevent any energy losses by better dimensioning the cable.
  
   

• Packaging - protects both products and user
  An important aspect from a work environment perspective is our packaging. Properly designed packaging is very helpful in our users' everyday lives: Easier to carry, easier to transport in a smooth way and easier to recycle. We also work actively to improve our packaging and make it more sustainable from an environmental perspective.
